After exploring Sengkang Sculpture Park, we continued our adventure at Sengkang Riverside Park. As usual, we did very little research beforehand and arrived with almost no expectations. We’ve found that keeping things that way makes new discoveries much more exciting. All we really knew about the park was that there would be a river somewhere nearby.
When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the park’s wetland landscape. There was a pond sitting among patches of wild vegetation, with turtles and fish swimming in it. We wandered around the area, taking plenty of photos and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. At one point, we spotted a monitor lizard digging around in a grassy patch. The park also had many signboards explaining how visitors should behave around local wildlife. There were signs warning about otters, although we didn’t spot any during our visit.
The best part of the visit was walking across the beautiful Sengkang Riverside Bridge, which spans the Punggol River. The panoramic views from the bridge were beautiful, with water, greenery, and open skies in every direction. My husband, who loves anything to do with lakes, beaches, and rivers, was thrilled to have discovered this bridge. He even jokingly suggested that we should move to Sengkang, but then I remembered he had said the same thing when we visited Sembawang Jetty. Apparently, every scenic waterfront location makes him want to move.
The dinner I had that day was one of the yummiest meals I’d had in a long time because I was so hungry from all the walking. I had initially planned to film our food as well, but once it arrived, I forgot all about it. Maybe next time.
