Alex discovered the Terminal 4 shuttle from a short video I took at the airport. I was picking up my parents when I saw the big purple bus pass by and thought Alex would love it, so I filmed it with my phone.
He was, of course, thrilled to ride the bus—but he was even more pleasantly surprised to discover a spot at Changi Airport Terminal 4 where he could sit and watch the airplanes going about their business.

He loves airplanes and spends hours drawing and colouring the planes he has taken so far. For now, his favourite is Singapore Airlines, though it tends to change with his most recent ride. Lately, he has been asking us to take Vietnam Airlines, drawn to its dark green design.
To him, flying on planes of different designs and colours matters more than ticket prices or service levels. The thought of riding a new plane and seeing new vehicles in a foreign country lights up his eyes.
We often use vacations as a way to help him understand saving and planning—how doing what we enjoy sometimes requires patience, and why certain activities can only happen a few times a year. We’re not entirely sure he understands it all yet, but it’s a start.
You can watch this video of our short trip—which really was very short. We took the shuttle, watched the planes, had dinner, and came back on the shuttle.
At first, I thought, “It’s nothing interesting. I shouldn’t even be making a video about it.” But then I reminded myself that real family moments are often ordinary and humble.
Even though the video is short, the Terminal 4 trip took up our entire evening, and we were tired by the time we got home. In a way, it fits perfectly with my channel theme: Humble Journeys.
Most importantly, Alex loves watching these videos on YouTube—and he’s the one person I want to please most with them.
In the end, it’s not about how grand the trip is, but about the small, meaningful moments we get to share along the way.
