One weekend, Alex and I visited Tampines Central Park—a big, spacious park located right next to Our Tampines Hub—the biggest community hub I’ve ever seen in Singapore, which was our next destination after the park.
The walk to the park itself was nice, as we got to see interesting neighborhood HDB gardens along the way. These homeowners decorated their front gardens with their own quirks and styles—we saw one HDB with a front lawn full of toys, figurines, and other ornaments. We had a good time looking at these, and Alex had a lot of fun looking at the toy cars.
When we arrived at Tampines Central Park, the sun was still kind. The park also had many large trees, so it was cool and pleasant to stroll there. It was big and designed in such a way that it caters to the needs of different people. For those who love to exercise, there were fitness corners, jogging and cycling tracks, and a basketball court. For leisure strollers like us, the park also has scenic paths. There are four playgrounds for families—including the heritage Watermelon and Mangosteen playgrounds—and for pet lovers, the park has a dog run area. There were many benches for introverts to sit and relax, and several picnic tables for others to socialize and connect too.
We also came across a huge open space for staged shows and performances, and Alex did a little dance on it that involved throwing his backpack aside.
We’ll continue to Our Tampines Hub on our journey. Stay tuned for next week.
