National Museum of Singapore

My husband came across a post about Singapore Odyssea: A Journey Through Time at the National Museum of Singapore and thought it looked interesting.
I had my doubts.
Museums aren’t really my thing, and I also thought Alex might find the experience boring. Still, my husband wanted to check it out, so we decided to give it a try. After all, many of our enjoyable weekend outings have started with one of us being less enthusiastic than the other.
Well, I was wrong this time.
Singapore Odyssea featured immersive digital exhibits that took us on a journey through different periods of Singapore’s history. Instead of simply walking around and looking at objects behind glass, we were surrounded by moving images, lights, and digital displays.
That made a big difference for Alex. He is usually drawn to visual displays, so there was plenty to keep him interested. One of the activities he enjoyed was a virtual sampan-rowing game. There was a real sampan in the room, but the player had to follow the journey on a screen while rowing it.
Before heading home, we stopped at the café inside the museum and took our time over our drinks and snacks before finally leaving the museum.
It turned out to be one of the most pleasant weekends I had enjoyed in quite some time.
