Kyet are mischievous shape-shifting ghosts that enjoy fooling unsuspecting people. While various types of ghosts may also engage in such antics, kyet are especially good at it with their tendency to orchestrate elaborate pranks in groups.
A typical ghost story involving kyet begins with travelers arriving at an unfamiliar place during the late hours of the night. Often, the setting is a large village, bustling with activity even after nightfall. The friendly villagers would invite travelers to spend the night, offering them meals and beds. Weary from their long journeys, the travelers readily accept the hospitality.
When they wake up the following morning, they discover—much to their confusion—that they are in either a desolate field or, in more disconcerting instances, in an eerie graveyard. The surrounding landmarks and trees remain unchanged, and their personal belongings untouched. Yet, the village has vanished without a trace, as if it were a mere figment of their imagination. It is only then that the travelers come to the realization that they have fallen victim to the elaborate ruse of kyet.
