Kumao (Philippines)

Kumao or Kumaw is a malevolent, bogeyman-like creature known for kidnapping and devouring children. It lurks in the darkness, waiting to snatch up unsuspecting children who play outside at night. Once Kumao captures a child, it removes their fingernails, causing them to bleed to death. Then, the monster devours their body, leaving the remains scattered. According to legend, Kumao collects children’s fingernails to trade in the underworld.
