Kuchisake Onna (Japan)

Kuchisake onna lurks in alleys, dimly lit areas, or dark streets, waiting to sneak up on her target. She especially likes to approach lone men or schoolchildren and ask, "Am I pretty?”
Depending on the version, she wears a surgical mask, a traditional Japanese fan, or a piece of cloth that conceals her face partially. Seeing only her visible features, most people instinctively answer “yes” out of politeness. In response, she removes her mask, revealing a gruesome, bloody gash that stretches from ear to ear.
Grinning, she asks again, "How about now?" If the person screams, tries to run, or says, “no,” she kills them on the spot. But if they answer “yes,” she slices their mouth, giving them the same grotesque appearance as hers.
