Kawahime are dangerous water yokai with succubus-like characteristics. They primarily dwell in bodies of water, such as streams, rivers, and lakes, but they can survive on land.
When young men wander close to a kawahime, she emerges from the water and seduces them with her beautiful appearance. In some accounts, she sits on the riverbank to attract passing men. Once her target turns his gaze upon her, he is doomed unless he has strong willpower. She bewitches him, driving him into an intense infatuation with her. Once this is achieved, she can drain his life force until he dies.
