Jayuro gwishin are ghosts linked to a strip of highway called Jayuro that connects Goyang and Paju cities. The roadway is often shrouded in dense fog and is notorious for its high number of car accidents. While the fog is often blamed for vehicle collisions, some think ghosts or gwishin are responsible for at least some of these accidents.
Of the several urban legends surrounding Jayuro Highway, the most notable one is the vanishing woman. Motorists traveling along the highway occasionally report seeing a young woman standing at the roadside. Initially, she appears to be wearing sunglasses. However, as the car approaches, the driver realizes she isn’t wearing sunglasses—her eyes are hollow.
