Buto ijo are man-eating, mythical demons. They appear as fierce, green monsters with bulging eyes and protruding fangs. They are also said to reek of a foul stench, like rotten meat or sewage.
Despite their sinister nature, buto ijo are believed to possess the ability to bless humans with prosperity. Those seeking fortune summon these demons through black magic to make a deal with them. However, making a contract with a buto ijo is a dangerous affair, as the demon demands sacrifices in return. Initially, it may accept offerings like flowers, incense, and food. But over time, the demon grows bored with these mundane offerings and starts demanding something far more sinister: the life of a child. Also, the child to be sacrificed cannot be just anyone—they must be a direct descendant of the person who made the pact with the buto ijo.
